Tuesday Night Campaign Summary

The Cult of the Dragon leads the charge in an unholy crusade to bring Tiamat back to the Realms, and the situation grows more perilous for the people of Faerûn with each passing moment. The battle becomes increasingly political as opportunities to gather allies and gain advantage present themselves. From Waterdeep to the Sea of Moving Ice to Thay, it is a race against Evil.

The Cult of the Dragon is going to use five dragon masks which merge into one mask with great power. With the aid of a ritual cast by a splinter faction of Red Wizards, the mask can be used to bring Tiamat out of Hell and into the Forgotten Realms.

The Cult has this item called the Draakhorn that can compel the chromatic dragons to come to the Well of Dragons. Those cultists with the 5 dragon masks can somewhat control the dragons. As the adventure progresses, more and more chromatic dragons head to the Well.

This is a time where great adventurers are needed. Succeed or succumb to the oppression of draconic tyranny. Win or lose, life in Faerûn will never be the same again.

Council of Waterdeep

Having accepted the invitation to the council meeting, the adventurers are received at the Lords’ Palace in Waterdeep. Once inside the Lords’ Palace, the party is escorted to the secret council chambers by Leosin Erlanthar. The outer galleries are packed with nobles engaged in heated debate, and the guards are wearing livery from city-states across the North.

The sounding of the Draakhorn weighs heavily on all the leaders of the Sword Coast. Seeking more information on the horn and its whereabouts leads the adventurers on an expedition to the frozen North.

The Sea of Moving Ice

Maccath the Crimson, a tiefling sorcerer of the Arcane Brotherhood, is an acknowledged expert on the Draakhorn—an ancient relic being used by the cult to summon dragons to their cause. She disappeared three years ago in the Sea of Moving Ice, where she was a prisoner of the white dragon Arauthator. The adventurers must make their way to Arauthator’s iceberg lair and convince Maccath to join them. By driving away the dragon and carrying off valuable dragon lore, they deal a blow to the cult and gain the Arcane Brotherhood as allies in the process.

Tomb of Diderius

The white dragon mask was stolen from Varram the White. The adventurers and Varram race to the Tomb of Diderius to get to the Divination Pool located there. The pool can be used to find the location of the white dragon mask. The tomb is overran with yuan-ti, and they have been using the the pool causing the pool to grow more dangerous. The yuan-ti have beaten Varram’s cultists and taken him captive. After defeating the yuan-ti hoard, the heroes gain custody of Varram.

He reveals that when using the pool, he realized that the White Dragon Mask was already at the Well of Dragons in Severin’s possession. The fallen wyrmspeaker is quick to accept his status as the adventurer’s prisoner – if only because he knows that Severin will kill him if he makes any attempt to return to the cult.

Ambushed!

The cult’s first attack against the adventurers is a measured assault designed to deliver a warning. As the adventurers are traveling back to their ship, the cultists get ahead of them and lay an ambush in Boareskyr Bridge. The cult’s leaders aren’t oblivious to the damage being caused by the adventurers. Assassins try to stop the adventurers’ interference, but the cultists misjudge the strength needed to complete the job.

Dragon Masks

  • Black Dragon Mask –  Current location unknown.
  • Blue Dragon Mask – Divination pool showed that it could possibly be with Neronvain in Misty Forest?
  • Green Dragon Mask – Current location unknown.
  • Red Dragon Mask – Severin’s Red Mask is at the Well of Dragons.
  • White Dragon Mask – Varram, if he can be trusted although your insight says he can be, says his mask was stolen and the Divination Pool showed him that Severin has it at the Well of Dragons.
